Dear White People,

“We are nonviolent with people who are “nonviolent” with us.” - Malcolm X

It hurts.

I am in PAIN.

I am in pain because there is an ocean surrounding me,

there is an ocean that is drowning me.

an ocean that does not look like ME,

an ocean that will never understand

that I am in pain.

I swim and swim, waiting for a drought, but

a drought takes time. Time that I could spend on land,

smelling the roses that god has rained upon us.

The bumble bees float in silence, afraid of

the stolen stingers of a million white widows.

White widows that could be silenced with one loud voice.

A loud voice you don’t want to hear, a loud voice that is too

EXTRA for your “delicate” ears.

Childish feet follow footsteps in the snow to a sense of belongingness,

searching for forgiveness from the “poor” and “unfortunate” white widows.

Are we causing you pain?

No.

We are in pain, and

We aren’t asking for “forgiveness”, “sympathy”, or “strength”, and

We know OUR words can reach a certain length.

Yet, we could care less if you're “upset”.

We’ve paid our dues, but you OWE us your “respect”.

   .                            Sincerely, Bryan M.

Power & Glory

What am I to you? A door to your honor? A window to my story? What happened to my power?

Angry Black Woman

Who am I, if not exploited?

Shhh!

I spread your word and I got what I deserved. I received fame and honor. It’s not my fault you didn’t. Now shut up and let me work.

Death

This is how it ends¿ I now see your true colors but at what cost¿ Where is my color¿ I’m afraid. It hurts…
